As many of us in the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation community have noticed, the flood waters have risen significantly in the last 48 hours. Sioux Valley’s Flood coordinator and Sioux Valley’s emergency staff continue to monitor the waters and are doing their best to keep everyone safe. We would like to remind the community to stay safe and do your best to stay clear of the flood waters as the current is moving quite fast and the water temperature is extremely cold, which can cause hypothermia. Please stay clear of flood water if possible.
Although the rising water is a danger, it is also creating some stunning scenery in our community. Stay clear, stay safe and enjoy the beauty mother nature has blessed us with in the middle of disastrous conditions.
We will continue to bring images as the flood continues.
