KODA 93.5 is working diligently to return to the airwaves on a more regular and permanent basis. With Bill Taylor returning to MC duties, Gerald Thunderbird-Sky assisting with tech support and Councilman Elton Taylor overseeing the project, we are pleased to announce that we will begin temporary regular broadcast hours within the SVDN area on the 93.5 FM frequency from Monday to Friday between the hours of 10am to 2pm.
Recently, Elton has taken a fair amount of time to assist with the purchase of a “new to us” studio mixer as our previous mixers no longer worked, or had been damaged in a previous storm which limited their ability. He has set up our mixer, installed some DJ software to assist us with 2019 digital music practices and configured our signal processor…we now have a far better and cleaner broadcast signal coming through the airwaves.
Previously, our signal amplifier had been turned down to approximately 10 watts of power, Gerald Thunderbird-Sky has been doing some research to increase our signal strength back to the previous 25 watts to return us to our previous standards. In cooperation with Elton, they will both be looking into bringing us ONLINE, hopefully within the next year, where you will be able to enjoy our broadcast on the World Wide Web.
Bill Taylor has been working tirelessly to bring the radio station building back up to standards, learning the ins and outs of some new equipment, doing inventory and planning future broadcast program scheduling. We will be looking for some on air volunteers to fill some KODA FM program slots, hopefully in March of 2019. If you or someone within Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has had an interest in being an on-air personality, or would like to take part in the revitalization of our community programming, please contact us and we will take down your name and other information for future consideration. We would like KODA to be a true “community” radio station.
