Health Care Aides / Home Care Workers

Casual, Part Time and Full Time Positions available



  • Perform Health Care Aide functions in a safe and effective manner to clients.
  • Observes and reports significant changes in client situations to HCC Manager and Nurse.
  • Be the direct link between the clients, families and nurse relationship.
  • Ability to support client’s activities of daily living as defined in the Client Care Plan. (bath, personal hygiene, vital signs, dressings, monitor the Home Care equipment and supplies, etc.)
  • Ability to provide safe, supportive care to each client’s needs for comfort, privacy and respect.
  • Demonstrate application of safe body mechanics. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control practices.
  • Prepare nutritious meals.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to prioritize and categorize assignments in an effective manner.
  • Ability to maintain records (report and submit client task forms signed).
  • To communicate effectively both orally and written.

Work Conduct:

  • Understand the importance of punctuality an good work attendance.
  • Grooming and appearance conveys a professional image.
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Must abide and respect the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain and utilize the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation equipment/assets in accordance to policies and procedures.

Working Condition:

  • Required to travel long distance between work assignments.
  • Required to work alone.
  • Required to report to Program Manager.
  • May be required to work with behaviourally difficult client.


  • Health Care Aide Certificate and/or combination of education/experience in assisting elderly, disabled persons with activities of daily living.
  • Must possess computer technical skills.
  • A valid Manitoba Drivers License, a reliable vehicle and a telephone.
  • Must be willing to take professional upgrade/skills opportunities.

Successful candidate will be subject to a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
