On June 5, 2017, Sioux Valley School held its annual pow wow for the youth. It was a beautiful sunny day, filled with laughs, good singing and some great dancing. There were barbecued hot dogs, juice boxes, chip and freezies for sale, and Bill Taylor on the microphone as MC for this event. Dakota Hotain, Battling Horse, Riverside Dakota and SV School’s very own “Shunka Nation” were the drums on hand to provide all the great songs. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful event for all who attended and showed support for our school. After SV school Principal Ward Pratt addresses the crowd, the microphone was handed over to Bill Taylor to navigate the days event. Grand Entry took place around 1:30 pm with several intertribals to follow, category demonstrations and finally a round dance to finish the afternoon. We’d like to thank all those who organized, donated, participated and attended SV school’s annual pow wow.
