Employment Opportunity – Water Quality Technician (04.26.19)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Water Quality Technician will work directly with the SVDN Health Director and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the Drinking Water Quality Monitoring program for SVDN. The Water Quality Technician will also conduct studies of drinking water sources and will undertake the sampling of water distribution systems.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Effectively plan, develop, implement, coordinate and maintain the Drinking Water Quality Monitoring Program
  • Ensure the program is effectively coordinated and monitored in compliance with Health Canada standards and guidelines
  • Maintaining a sampling protocol which is submitted to the EHO and CHR
  • Conducting samples and analysis of raw surface waters, ground water supplies and treated water
  • Recording all results obtained on data sheets and retain for records
  • Keeping accurate records/logs of associated Water Quality Technicians and work activities as per the provided Water Quality Technician Services
  • Complete the required reporting criteria as per reporting process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Manitoba drivers license, reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 2017
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to train and learn about the Water Quality Monitoring and Analysis Reporting
  • Must possess a professional attitude and maintain confidentiality at all times
