Employment Opportunity – Financial Comptroller (03.15.19)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Comptroller is designated as the person in charge of daily accounting operations and quality control. A Comptroller prepares information to help with financial planning and will ensure accuracy of financial transactions and reporting. The Comptroller will also provide senior management with strategic financial data and oversee the overall accounting processes.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Establishing and maintaining cash controls and reconciling of general ledgers and bank statements
  • Assisting the senior authorities in preparing the annual budget and the annual audit
  • Maintaining the purchase order system
  • Supervising investments and cash reserves
  • Monitoring data entry systems and procedures
  • Preparing and systematically maintaining all supplier accounts
  • Classifying and maintaining financial files and records, according to year
  • Preparations of quarterly reports, monthly financial statements and balance sheets
  • Reconciling the payables accounts, receivables accounts and preparing journal summaries
  • Issue receipts for all the accounting transactions
  • Maintaining records and pertaining to the financial systems
  • Issuing coding and authorizing purchase orders
  • Compiling source documents
  • Maintains filing systems, security systems of documents, maintains insurance coverage and responds to customer and employee queries
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Academic requirement in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • 5+ years related work experience
  • Proficient in accounting software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 2017
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Ability to provide financial projections
  • Valid Manitoba drivers license, reliable vehicle
